Suffolk Marine Safety can arrange the service, testing and battery replacement of a wide range of marine safety beacons and Search and Rescue Transponders (SARTs) from leading manufacturers including sMRT, Ocean Signal, ACR and McMurdo.

Marine safety beacons and SARTs are an essential part of a vessel’s emergency equipment. Regular inspection and servicing helps ensure that your equipment is ready to operate correctly when it is needed.

Depending on the manufacturer and model, servicing is either carried out in-house by our trained technicians or through one of our specialist approved service partners. This allows us to offer support across a much wider range of equipment while ensuring that the appropriate servicing procedures are followed.

Many marine safety beacons and SARTs have a specified battery replacement or service interval. Even if the equipment has never been activated, its battery will eventually reach its replacement date.

Depending on the particular unit, servicing may include:

• Battery replacement
• Visual inspection
• Operational and self-test checks
• Inspection of casing, seals and controls
• Checking expiry and replacement dates
• Replacement of seals and other service components where required
• Functional testing following servicing
• Updating service labels and documentation as appropriate

Where equipment cannot be serviced economically, or where a manufacturer no longer supports a particular model, we can also advise on suitable replacement equipment.

Servicing collection & drop off

For added convenience, we offer designated collection points for Marine Safety Beacon servicing and hire across the UK.

You can arrange for your Marine Safety Beacon device or safety equipment to be picked up from a nearby partner location (such as a local marina), so you don’t have to travel far. After servicing, we’ll deliver your equipment back to you or have it ready for pick-up at the drop-off point. Our network of collection locations makes the whole process easy and hassle-free, wherever you are.
