The HydroFIX™ Hydrostatic Release Unit is a patented rod system that allows a beacon to be quickly and reliably released from a Category 1 bracket when submerged in water between 1.5-4 meters (4.9-13.1 feet). This unit is designed to work with the EPIRB brackets we stock, and a few other models, please call to check if this would be suitable for your unit. A patented rod system does not rely on a battery, blade or pyrotechnic device to release the beacon. This advantage allows for a quick, seamless and reliable release in an emergency.

The HRU is a date-stamped product and must be replaced every 2 years from the date marked on the HRU. The ACR HydroFIX EPIRB HRU (Hydrostatic Release Unit) should be marked by the owner at the time of installation with an indelible ink pen. The HydroFIX™ Release Unit is suitable for use 4 years from the date of manufacture, which is imprinted on the bottom of the HydroFIX, or 2 years from the date of installation.
